“Explain this to me again,” Cain said.

DG leaned over with her elbows on her knees so that she might stare him straight in the eye. “It's all about balance, Cain. To survive the danger involved in adventuring, natural as well as unnatural.”

“This applies to us how?”

“We're perfectly balanced. You, a gunman; Glitch, with formal fight training; Raw, a Viewer; and me, a magic user.”

Cain raised an eyebrow, patience running out.

“Ranged fighter, melee, healer, mage. Balance!”

“Still don't mean you're convincing anyone with this professional adventuring idea.” He stood, shaking his head and leaving her alone in the library.

She watched him go. Maybe Glitch would be more open.
